My name is Emma Pinezich, and I am a fine artist based on Long Island, New York. I have been passionate about creating my whole life, using materials ranging from charcoal, digital design, clay, and oil paints over the years.

My current work focuses on hand-built and wheel-thrown pottery for both practical use and aesthetic decor.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and practicing yoga.

About the Artist

Art made with love

My inspiration

My art is inspired by my passions for music, philosophy, and nature. In my pottery, I aspire to create works that combine creative colors and shapes with textural everyday ease. I strive to mirror the balance and comforts of nature and life’s patterns, while at the same time drawing on bright colors and whimsical shapes, bringing the colorful dream world and natural world together to create the perfect piece for your home.

My artistic process

Pottery

Creating pottery can be meditative, frustrating, and exhilarating — sometimes all three at once. I primarily work on a potters wheel where I throw clay, perfect it during its drying phases, and fire it twice in a kiln, glazing it in between fires. This process requires patience as it takes weeks to see a project through. But, seeing my pieces finally come out of their second fire makes it all worth the wait!

Prints

The prints I create tap into what has always drawn me to art — the ability to express the abstract, the complex, and the emotional facets of life. Subjects such as time, ambivalence, sub-conscienceness, and faith all influence my work. My process for these works starts with a pen and ink drawing on paper, which I then scan onto my computer to add color and shading in Adobe Photoshop.

Painting

Acrylic paint is a medium that opens up infinite doors. Allowing me to juxtapose everyday objects with abstract colors, I strive to create pieces that inspire calmness, visual movement, and creativity in others. I start all my paintings on professional-grade canvasses where I make my visions come to life through layers of paint, which slowly bring my themes to fruition.
